2025 ALBUM PREVIEW
Nowhere Land is a soul-baring, reality-bending, 45 minute orchestral and vocal journey that will remain with you long after the final note. In the words of ASA Judge, Brian Henderson Ward, this composition is “more complex than Bohemian Rhapsody … a huge theatre production. An outstanding vocal performance … with fabulous harmonies. The musicianship is genius.”
This body of work represents an excerpt from Ash Morse’s currently unpublished novel, ‘Schern’s Eternal Sadness’, in which one of the main characters, James Freeman volunteers to disable a rogue AI program, The Dream Machine, from within its own virtual reality interface.
In the story, The Dream Machine was originally designed by Professor Arthur Schern as a training facility to accelerate the evolution of human consciousness. By syncing with, and amplifying specific brain waves, the Dream Machine had the power to induce a trance-like state while dilating relative time for anyone under its influence. In theory, this technology would allow participants to enter virtual dream-like realms and simulate, in just minutes, what would otherwise take weeks, months or years to master. However, one man sought to exploit the Machine for his own destructive ends. Not fully understanding its complexity, the man quickly lost control and the city of New Eden, where this story resides, fell into chaos under the machine’s control.
James Freeman, who was a young apprentice of Professor Schern, was originally chosen to work on the machine for his unique ability to navigate dream and nightmare spaces. James had helped Professor Schern over many years to refine the machine’s powerful interface to make it as effective as possible, spending many hours a day working within the worlds they co-created. Because of his extensive experience, James remained relatively unaffected by the machine-induced chaos as the city and citizens began tearing the buildings, and each other, apart.
James eventually found the man responsible and tried to manually override the machine’s controls to no avail. The Dream Machine had become sentient and taken over. As a last resort to save the city, James hooked himself up to the machine in the hope he might disable it from within. As James’s consciousness jacked in, the Dream Machine turned its time dilator to infinity so that no time would ever pass outside and James would never be able to leave.
Here is where the story of Nowhere Land begins…
After its standing ovation premier at Avoca Theatre in July 2025, Nowhere Land is now set to reach audiences across the globe.
ASH'S CAREER
At just 20, Sydney artist and composer Ash Morse dared to take the path less traveled; he left the security of the Conservatorium of Music to follow his instincts—writing, producing, and releasing his debut, genre-straddling album Lost in the Music and fronting a self- funded seven-piece band.
His subsequent electrifying live shows quickly drew the attention of industry heavyweight Glenn A. Baker, who was so impressed he called Channel 9 and secured Ash a national TV performance within days. The live performance led to a repeat appearance, an ABC feature, and a wave of national radio interviews, performances and recognition.
Despite early momentum, the financial strain of leading a large band without industry backing or mentorship forced Ash to pause his career and train in another field—vowing to return when he could afford to create sustainably. Though music never truly left his life, he didn’t return to full capacity until 2019.
After the sudden passing of his father, who died before achieving his goals, Ash was driven to pursue his art with renewed purpose. Despite Sydney lockouts, lock downs, venue closures, shrinking music revenue, industry uncertainty, and skyrocketing living costs, Ash worked three jobs, seven days a week, to fund a new body of work born from years of quiet innovation and creative evolution. The costs and time demands were almost insurmountable until a silent patron—moved by the impact of Ash’s earlier music—lifted the financial burden, freeing him to focus entirely on his craft. This major turning point, along with his introduction to producer and engineer, Ryan Miller, ushered in a new era of unprecedented creative output that continues to this day.
Since the release of his second album in 2022, Ash has delivered new music every year, winning awards, industry recognition, and a growing audience. Now, in 2025, he’s preparing his boldest artistic
statement yet—‘Nowhere Land’- a genre-shattering, mind altering, 45 minute musical masterpiece that opened to a standing ovation at its pilot Avoca Theatre show in mid July. Nowhere Land is now set to expand across to theatres across the country and around the globe.
